Centre Cook - Lyrebird ELC

Are you passionate about creating nutritious meals that fuel young minds while also making a meaningful impact on children’s lives? At Lyrebird ELC, we’re looking for a dedicated Centre Cook to nourish both bodies and minds in a warm, home-like environment where every child feels safe, valued, and inspired to learn.

Why this Centre?

At Lyrebird, we treasure our team as much as the children we care for. Joining us means becoming part of a supportive, empowering, and inspiring workplace where you’ll thrive both personally and professionally.

Here’s what we offer:

  • Professional Growth & Support – Ongoing mentoring, professional development opportunities, and in-service support to help you achieve your career goals.
  • Work-Life Balance – Enjoy set hours from 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Monday to Friday and access to enrolment discounts at our centres.
  • Wellbeing & Support – 24/7 access to wellbeing resources for you and your family through our partnership with Sonder for health, safety, and personal wellbeing.
  • A Strong & Celebratory Team Culture – Be part of a close-knit, collaborative team that celebrates milestones, achievements, and successes through team-building events, social gatherings, and Christmas parties.
  • A Beautiful, Inspiring Environment – Our historic centre features large outdoor play areas, a vegetable garden where children learn to grow their own food and engaging local excursions to strengthen community connections.

Why Us?

More than a childcare centre, Lyrebird ELC is a ‘Home Away from Home.’ We embrace diversity and inclusivity, celebrating cultural events and incorporating families’ unique traditions into daily programs.

Guided by our four pillars, our approach ensures:

  • Connected by Community – Building strong relationships with families and the local area.
  • In Safe Hands – Prioritising safety and wellbeing in every aspect of our practice.
  • Quality Education You Can Count On – Tailored programs supporting every child’s development.
  • Home Away from Home – Intimate, nurturing spaces where children feel they belong.

What We’re Looking for in You

You are a passionate, energetic, and skilled cook who understands the importance of nutrition in early childhood development. Your role will be more than just preparing meals—you could be inspiring the next generation of culinary experts!

With this role, you get the best of both worlds—combining your love for cooking with your passion for education. Not only will you provide nutritional meals that support children’s growth, but you will also help educate them on healthy food choices, fostering a lifelong appreciation for wholesome eating. As an educator, you'll also play a key role in shaping their overall well-being and education.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Food Safety Certificate and understanding of food handling regulations.
  • Valid WWCC and current First Aid & CPR Certificate.
  • Knowledge of Child Safe Standards, EYLF, and NQS.
  • A proactive, collaborative spirit with a passion for creating delicious, nutritious meals.

If you love to cook, care deeply about children’s wellbeing, and want to be part of an amazing team, we’d love to hear from you!
